Julia Hulsmeyer
CEO

Welcome everyone to Positively Local News! My name is Julia Hulsmeyer and I am the CEO of our newly launched organization. As time continues to fly by and so many changes happening in our world, it is sometimes difficult to find positivity. Therefore, Positively Local News is just that...providing Positive news coverage and showcasing individuals doing outstanding things in their communities.
So I want to invite you to like/follow/promote us to all you know so we can share optimistic, hopeful, cheerful, confident, and, of course, positive stories to everyone. Let your adventure begin by giving others a side hug, high fives, and a welcoming hello. You never know how far a little gesture or smile you give to someone can go.
Randall Hulsmeyer
Board of Directors

TGIF Miami Valley! My name is Randall Hulsmeyer and I serve on the board of directors for the new Positively Local News! My vision for our new non-profit company is to shine a light on the great people who do positive things in the Miami Valley. But to make a real impact we need YOUR help! Please share YOUR positive experiences and stories with us. This is YOUR chance to be the change you seek in the world! Are you thankful for a great teacher? Do you know of an employer who treats their staff well? Did someone buy your lunch? Maybe you saw someone help someone else just because, or you are planning to do the same! Don’t let that positive energy end with you, share that positivity!

Let’s get back to loving each other! No matter how big or small the act may be, it could be just the news someone needed to hear, and give them the energy to spread the love! Come on Miami Valley! Let’s make our world the best it can be, TOGETHER!

Kristine Reed
Board of Directors

Kristine Reed is a partner with Miltner Reed LLC, an Ohio firm with its principal office in the Cincinnati suburb of Mason. She enjoys practicing in a small firm setting and having the opportunity to build lasting relationships with clients. Priding herself on being down-to-earth and approachable, Kristine wants every client to have a great experience and to feel at ease in her office. The clock is not as important to her as really understanding the needs and goals of her clients, and that understanding keeps clients coming back and bringing friends and family with them.
When she’s not wearing her lawyer hat, Kristine and her high-school-sweetheart husband, Mike, enjoy spending time with their adult children, Andrew and Lauren. They enjoy family road trips, finding the best beaches, cheering on Ohio State football, and the occasional guilty pleasure of binge watching the latest Netflix original while eating too much pizza. You might also find Kristine at a local or not-so-local 5K, 10K, or half-marathon, either running by herself, with friends and family, or with her favorite volunteer program that focuses on the importance of health and fitness in addiction recovery. Kristine received her undergraduate degree cum laude from Miami University in 1993 and earned her JD, with high distinction, at Ohio Northern University in 1996. She has enjoyed practicing law for more than 20 years, plans to stick around for a few more, and is licensed in Ohio, Indiana, and Georgia.
Tonya Charles
Board of Directors

Tonya Charles is a Licensed Social Worker who has been working within our community since 1991. She graduated from Wright State University with her Bachelor of Arts in Social Work, and has focused her career around families and children. Tonya is committed to community outreach and ensuring families and children have what they need to succeed. She has a laid back and easy-going approach to working with her clients, and builds the rapport needed to make the experience as pleasant as possible.

Tonya is an avid animal lover that started when she was very young. She was the child saving baby birds and was responsible for the family dog, Tuffy. She was responsible for feeding him, giving him water, and walking him. Tonya loved to take him for bike rides because he would fit perfectly in her handle bar basket! She was only 2 years old when her family adopted Tuffy and when he passed away at the ripe old age of 16, it was like losing a family member. This commitment carried over into her adult life and about 20 years ago, she began volunteering at a local shelter. she has fostered many cats, kittens, dogs, and puppies by given them a temporary and loving home until they are ready for adoption. If you ask her how many she has fostered, she will reply, "I stopped counting after four years because then it was over 300." She will also tell you the reason her focus is on children professionally and animals as a volunteer, is because children and animals have one thing in common, "They are seen, but not heard, and I must be their voice." Tonya has resided in the Dayton area since her birth and has chosen to remain loyal to her community.
